Meet The Founder. Bari Life Bariatric Vitamins & Supplements was founded by Dr. Stephen Boyce. From working with thousands of bariatric surgery patients, Dr. Boyce has developed Bari Life Bariatric Vitamins & Supplements to help his patients and others to provide a simple and affordable vitamin regimen for supplementation post bariatric surgery.
With over 24 years of experience performing weight loss surgeries, Dr. Boyce’s formal education began at Texas A&M University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science before beginning medical school in Dallas, Texas at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Surgical Residency was performed at the Parkland Memorial Hospital where he was introduced to weight loss surgery under the tutelage of one of the pioneering fathers of weight loss surgery, Dr. Otto Wilbanks.
“People who need weight loss surgery are chronically obese. Chronic obesity is a distinct medical definition. It is defined based on a calculation called the BMI. A healthy weight individual will have a BMI of 20-25. Obesity begins at a BMI of 30 and sever obesity begins from 35 to 40. A person is a candidate for weight loss surgery if their BMI is 35 or higher.”

Dr. Boyce is passionate about helping people achieve their ideal weight and changing their life through weight loss surgery and the proper vitamin supplementation afterwards. Developing a clinically proven all in one bariatric multi vitamin line to help with proper nutrients after weight loss surgery was a natural choice for Dr. Boyce and his wife, Courtney Boyce, the CEO of Bari Life. Mrs. Boyce took on the job of running Bari Life Bariatric Vitamins & Supplements since Dr. Boyce is a busy surgeon. Mrs. Boyce was happy to take on this job because after being with Dr. Boyce for 35 years she, too, is extremely passionate about Bari Life’s clinically proven vitamin line and she wants to make sure that all of Dr. Boyce’s patients and any other candidates are properly informed about vitamin supplementation post weight loss surgery. Mrs. Boyce knows how important vitamin supplementation is after surgery and alongside her husband she wants to give people the option of an affordable and clinically proven vitamin regimen that other leading bariatric vitamin companies fail to offer.
“Being overweight and obese shortens people’s lives and decreases the quality of their life. They can develop diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep apnea. Creating a better quality of life for someone is my passion and it feels good knowing that Bari Life gives people a more affordable and clinically proven option for vitamin supplementation post bariatric surgery.”

More information about Bariatric Surgery
Weight loss surgery is classified by the type of operation. There are restrictive operations and malabsorptive operations. Restrictive operations typically just involve the stomach and they are designed to limit how much food one can intake at a given meal. A malabsorptive operation involves bypassing the parts of the small intestines so the human body does not have time to absorb all the calories from food because as a result of the surgery the small intestine route is shorter.
Advantages of WLS
Weight loss surgery for the severely obese patients is sometimes the only solution for lasting weight loss. It allows people to lose weight and keep it off. It can also rid a person of certain diseases associated with being severely obese, such as Type II Diabetes and high blood pressure. Weight loss surgery can work wonders for the right candidate, but the decision to gain a healthy body starts with you and you must be fully committed to helping yourself become healthy. Whether it’s for you, for the sake of your husband or children, if you’re severely obese you should seek medical attention and weigh the different options your doctor provides you. It could be the best decision of your life.
